1.    Never leave your pet in a hot car.

2.    Make sure your pet is protected from internal and external parasites.

3.    Keep your pet’s paws off how asphalt on in the bed of a truck.

4.    Your pet should have access to water 24/7

5.    Give your pet some cold and/or icy treats or a wading pool.

6.    Don’t assume your pet can swim well.

7.    No fence? Keep your dog leashed at all times.

8.    Watch your pets weight. Feed less if overweight. Feed more if losing weight. Ask your vet.

9.    Pets can get sunburns too. Take your pet for a walk at dawn or dusk and avoid the middle of the day. 

10.  Ventilate your home but make sure screens are up and fully intact so your pet does not try to make an escape.

Shield delicate skin and use some pet sun screen for ears, nose or pets in the nude (little or no fur-hair). For that matter keeps pet coats long, brushed and un-matted to avoid over exposure from the sun with access to water at all times especially for the thick haired breeds.

Sooth burns with pure aloe.

Walk with caution avoid times when temperatures are so high heats up asphalt and cement which in turn can burn your pets paw pads.

Don't leave your dog alone in the car period.

Look for signs of heat exhaustion-heavy panting, dry or bright red gums, thick drool, vomiting, diarrhea, or wobbly legs basically if your pet is panting up a storm take a break and give them some water.

keep it cool indoors with fans, air conditioners, open windows any way for air circulation.

Beware of riptides and currents if near the ocean. Use a pet life-jacket if going boating with your pet. Always make sure there is a exit for your pet in all bodies of water.

Keep a eye out for parasites.

Opt for pet friendly insect repellents ask your veterinarian.

Don't let your pet get into charcoal briquettes which can cause havoc internally.

Don't feed table scraps which can cause havoc in a pet's tummy.

Avoid certain backyard scrubs that could be poisonous to pets like azaleas and lilies

Avoid yard chemicals like plant foods, pest control, fertilizer which could be poisonous to your pets.

Keep them away from fire works. Keep pets indoors during times of fireworks use.

It's hot outside..

Fans, open windows, air conditions anything that creates air flow is awesome.
Long fur? How about a hair cut?
Please no car rides that result in sitting in the hot sun for any period of time.
Stay clear from hot asphalt and cement, does not do your pets poor feet any good. Maybe booties?
Fleas and ticks maybe rampant so keep your pet parasite free with flea/tick treatment and prevention. Contact a local veterinarian.
Also if your in a area known for mosquitos watch out for heartworm, treat and prevent if needed. Contact a local veterinarian.
Keep your pets vaccinations updated to prevent spread of disease. Contact your local veterinarian.
Know the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Ask your veterinarian.

Treat your pet to a cool snack. Frozen veggies and fruits that are pet friendly. Pup-sicles!

 

Make your pet a DIY cooling pad. Take a box the right size for you pet insert a ice pack/frozen water bottle filled sock, place under a towel and ta-da a nice cool place for your lovely pet! 

 

Play hide and seek inside the nice cool house.

Loads of fans, air conditioning and air flow!

Why?

Many reasons why......

The dog could get stolen....no does not matter if your vehicle is locked or not.

Thieves always finds a way

Your dog could die of heat stroke if it is hot or even mildly warm outside. Windows open or not.

Your dog could freeze to death if its too cold outside.

If there is a natural disaster/emergency there is no way for your dog to get out.

Your dog could tear up and wreck your car's interior. 

Could get ticketed. It is illegal in some places to leave your pet in the car unattended. 

Your car window could get bashed out from a concerned animal lover, policeman, etc. if your dog looks even the slightest bit of in distress.

If your pet is lonely from being left at home why leave them alone in the car while you do your shopping for minutes, hours or whatever. Kind of hypocritical....just saying....
